I challenge myself
to see the world as you did
and what others miss

my comfortable
stereoscopic vision
sees familiar scenes

down your viewfinder
through your lens with one eye shut
squarely did you see

chosen restriction
challenging natural sight
with one by one frames

balanced and centered
before the square would become
a mass produced view

through the lens I try
to see the world as you did
and all you have missed

"Low and Slow"

The owner of this local barbecue stand arrives every day at 5:30 a.m. to fire up the big Southern Yankee Barbecue smoker with red oak logs.  The smoky smell always greets me as I drive up to my office across the street.  I’ve gotten in the habit of picking up a pound of pulled chicken for dinner on my way home from work and using the leftovers in an amazing smoky chicken and kale soup the following day.
